When the new Volkswagen Jetta was revealed it seemed to be softer and reverting back to a more primitive torsion-bean rear axle. But it seems that it will instead get some major improvements.
The new GLI will not use the base Jetta’s torsion-beam rear suspension. It will get a modern multi-link independent rear suspension, just as the Golf lineup has. Besides that, it will also get a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. It will most likely be the unit found in the GTI, that produces 220 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.
