Tesla Blames Bosch for Model S Recall

Tesla has issued a voluntary recall for around 123,000 early made Model S sedans due to complaints from some owners about corroding power-steering bolts that are exposed regularly to calcium or magnesium road salts. These salts are used in cold climates usually.




The recall announcement noted that there have been no accidents or injuries caused by this problem, and the recall was issued as a precautionary measure. The voluntary recall relates to Model S sedans that were manufactured previous to April 2016. Model S sedans manufactured after this date seem to be unaffected. The bolts, that were manufactured by German supplier Bosch, can corrode after contacting in cold weather with road salt. Some Tesla owners complained about this on online forums.
